November Kitties Update (plus an Interview)

Image
November started out pretty quiet, fell into chaos with a book release and 3/4 people down with the flu, then kicked into high gear on the rescue cat front. We took in two bottle babies in September, and after two months of sweet, sweet snuggles, Pumpkin and Spice went back to the shelter and are now available for adoption. These cuties were hard to let go. There were lots of echoes of "Can't we keep them both?" from all members of the household. But if we keep these, we won't have room for the next batch of kittens in need. I've had to remind everyone of that a lot over the past couple weeks! Pumpkin & Spice We also took in this sweet lady for a little while. We've been looking for a snuggly cat to give our youngest some extra love, and we thought this girl might be The One. Sadly, she was pretty stressed about sharing a house with our resident cat, so she's still waiting for her perfect people. Ila  So . . . That leads us to the end

Louisiana Life: Satsuma Season

Image
It's late fall in South Louisiana, which means I have mountains of little orange gems on my kitchen counter. And I don't even have an orange tree of my own! It's not uncommon this time of year to come home to a bag of satsumas hanging from my front doorknob or to be handed a bag as I leave a relative's house. Satsuma by boggycreekfarm licensed under  CC BY-NC-ND 2.0 Seriously, as I was writing this my husband came home with another gigantic bag someone had given him. He and I have even started changing the lyrics of "Tangerine" to "Satsuma" this year. (Harry's version is my favorite.) An overabundance of oranges is a great problem to have, but as grateful as we are for these juicy sweet treats, we do get tired of eating them after a while. My youngest loves to make juice, so that makes a good dent in the pile. Sometimes we freeze extra juice in ice cube trays to use in recipes later. But this year I wanted to try new ways to make use

Friday Five: 5 Fun Facts About Me

Image
Happy First Blog Post Friday! I couldn't think of a better way to kick off this blog than with a little get-to-know-me post. So, here you go! Five fun facts about yours truly: I have a mega monstrous potty mouth. I try to keep it in check online, but I make no promises when I'm watching football or driving. Brownies, not cake. I don't enjoy cake. I do like sweet things (caaaandy), but I'd usually rather have chips or fries than dessert. I really struggle with habits & routines, and I actually like change. As a kid, I used to hide in my room and rearrange all of my furniture every few months. Jennifer Crusie was my romance gateway author. Been chasing HEAs ever since. I was a cheerleader in middle school. This was probably a mistake on someone's part, although I do still love to cheer on my friends & writer buddies!
